Imagine that our image in the mirror continues to exist after we leave, then you will get an idea of what can be meant by the astral image of a human being. The astral body is inherent in every person, it is an absolute double of the physical body of a person & consists of subtle etheric matter.
Normally it is very difficult to separate the astral body from the physical double, but in dreams, under mental stress & in certain special conditions, the astral body can be revealed. When awake, the astral body acts with the physical body.
In addition to the five physical senses -sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell, a person has five astral senses as physical originals; they manifest themselves in the astral plane & a person can receive sensory impressions with their help, bypassing physical by clairvoyance, telepathy, etc..
The astral plane can be visited consciously through astral projection, meditation, near death experience or lucid dreaming. Individuals that are trained in the use of the astral vehicle can separate their consciousness in the astral vehicle from the physical body at will.
There are higher, middle & lower astral planes. Don't think of them as separate localities in space. The matter of each plane or subplane interpenetrates that of the plane or subplane below it, so that here at the surface of the Earth all exist together in the same space, although it is true that the higher varieties of matter extend further away from the physical Earth than the lower.
Different phenomena can occur simultaneously in one place without affecting each other & they can act on the lower astral planes, that is, on the plane next to the physical.
In the lower astral plane there are also spirits or astral shadows, ghosts & other disembodied phenomena, the manifestations of which are sometimes felt by people & some animals. There is a hierarchy of psychic beings in nature, called elemental spirits. They act in the lower layers of the astral plane in direct connection with the physical plane. People have always known about these astral beings.There is no evil deed that they would not dare to work on. Their temper is cruel & audacious, they start quarrels between people & set cruel & completely unexpected traps for them, act with arrogance & are happy when injustice, violence & disagreement reign somewhere.
The elemental spirits & elementals continuously rotate in the astral fluids & obey only out of devotion or fear, but they are always free & can resist the will of the sorcerer.
Elementals have never been in a human body & this is what makes them strive. Elementals have some instinctive mind, their appearance can change along with the subject. They have considerable power over matter, because they live in the border region between the material & astral planes. Elementals can heal or cause amazing visions.
