Household Spirit

The Household Spirit lives in almost every house. Most often it can be found where several generations of the family have lived. Sometimes they mirror aspects of a family ancestor, or even the current head of the household or pets & can be seen with a tail or small horns. For those who do not live within the house, to see a Household Spirit in his true form is a bad omen.
Since ancient times, it has been believed that the house in which the Household Spirit lives is protected from evil people, damage & the evil eye. This creature settles & manifests itself from the best side, prevents accidents or protects against negativity only where there is order & where residents respect each other. Often Household Spirit can give the prophetic dreams or solutions to problems. When treated with respect, he will help with chores, cares for the animals & protects the family. He will warn of any upcoming dangers & keep peace in the home.
Sometimes happens that residents move out, leaving their Household Spirit in the old place. New residents may not be to the liking of the housekeeper, then strange things & troubles start to happen in the house.
Pets sometimes behave strangely: they stare into space for a long time, as if they see something or begin to behave aggressively for no good reason. Animals subtly feel the presence of something otherworldly in the room.
Strange sounds or noise. The Household Spirit can beat dishes or stomp, thereby reminding you of his presence or wanting to punish you for disrespecting the house.
If Household Spirit is not respected by the family, is angered & mistreated, he becomes mischievous & can bring chaos, so failing to tend to their needs can lead to missing items, broken dishes & misfortune. Bulbs can often burn out & household appliances break down. This suggests that the Household Spirit is dissatisfied with something. The home needs to be kept in good condition, with dishes cleaned & put away, food not left out unless it’s a small table offering to the Household Spirit. He has sticky fingers & takes tools that are left out & misplaced objects for himself. When upset or unhappy, he might keep the family awake at night, disrupt the peace & can even take on poltergeist-like activities, he may try to harm the animals & people of the home. If none of that works he may abandon the house & family, remove his graces & influences, leaving the family in their ruin.
Should the family be planning on permanently relocating, the head or elder of the house should invite the Household Spirit to come with them, after all they are not bound to the house, but the family & to be left behind would be most insulting.
To keep your Household Spirit happy, provide offerings. Leave a plate of food for him or a seat at the table. The Household Spirit may like to sleep & hide out in a chimney or old stove. Keep it clean & uncluttered for him/her. Be sure to thank your Household Spirit for his graces & protection of the family. Household Spirit loves flowers, sweets & the smell of cooking & baking.

There are no Household Spirits in new buildings. They live where people have been living for a long time. Usually, when moving, people take Household Spirits with them, offering to continue friendship & life together. You need to think not only about how to appease a Household Spirit in your new home, but also how to invite him there.
Sometimes these entities come to homes without an invitation & you will notice this immediately, in a positive sense. It will be nice to be in home, its atmosphere will change for the better. This is the first sign that a Household Spirit has appeared in the house. But by themselves they do not come immediately & it is better to call them. There are special rituals that call a Household Spirit to a new home & after he comes to you, try to make friends with him.

If you are going to rent a home or have bought a house that someone has already used, there may be a Household Spirit living already. If you have a Cat, take him with you the first time you go to your new home, before you move in your things.
You also need red wine, bread & salt, as well as a towel. After opening the door, let the Cat in first & then go in yourself. Spread out the towel. This can be done on the floor or on any suitable surface. Put the goodies on the towel. A saucer with wine & a saucer with bread & salt, then say:
"House Spirit, accept our treats for our housewarming."
House Spirit will accept you, because people who lived under the same roof with him have probably changed more than once in his life & Household Spirits appreciate gifts & respect.
If you don't have a Cat, then change "our" to "mine" & otherwise do the same.
A good relationship with your Household Spirit is the key to a successful life & home comfort, so you should not neglect the small rituals associated with him.

How to call your Household Spirit into the new building.
Place a bowl of milk & a piece of bread on the table at midnight.
Say it three times:
'Household Spirit, be with me, live here, walk here.
Household Spirit, eat bread & salt in my home, drink milk & give us happiness & joy every day. '
Leave the offering on the table & do not clean it for three days.
When you notice the appearance of a Household Spirit, you should thank him for it, give a treat & do not forget to do it in the future.

Another method of summoning a Household Spirit is done at the new moon. When you set the table for your dinner, take two more saucers. Milk is poured into one & placed near the stove with the following words:
'Eat, drink, Household Spirit, as much as you want & live with me.'
Put a little bit of everything that is on your table that day. Household Spirit doesn't like meat or eggs. Put this saucer next to the first one & say:
'Have a bite, dear Household Spirit, as much as you want & live with me.'
You need to speak sincerely & then the good spirit will hear you & come to live in your new home.

There is another way, which is done after having lunch for the first time in a new house. One of the pieces of bread that you will cut off from the loaf while you are eating, put it as a treat for the Household spirit with these words:
'Dear Household Spirit,
We invite you to the new house,
We treat you with bread,
We invite you to live with us!'
If you have a private house, bury the bread in the ground or put it in the right corner in the attic.
In the apartment leave it behind the stove.
