Iron combines the properties of three elements: it is extracted from Earth & then hardened in Fire & Water. Tempering Iron in Fire & Water gives it a special magickal power.
The durability & resistance of Iron to corrosion have made it a symbol of endurance & resilience in alchemy. It has often been used as an embodiment of the ability to withstand & overcome negative forces.
Iron is often associated with the masculine principle, representing its strong, assertive & aggressive aspects. This reflects its connection to the planet Mars, as it was considered a symbol of the warrior. It represents the power of will & the ability to maintain a strong mind in the face of adversity, making it a powerful talisman of courage & fortitude.
In its pure form, Iron is rarely found in nature, with the exception of its presence in meteorites. Most often, Iron-nickel alloys & Iron ore in the form of Hematite & Magnetite are found in nature.
