Clairvoyance
We all have an astral & mental body & each of these bodies can be awakened & begin to respond accordingly, opening completely new & vast worlds of knowledge & power. These new worlds, which are all around us, freely penetrate into each other, with the lower astral forming a direct continuation of the higher physical, just as the lower mental in turn forms a direct continuation of the higher astral.
It is possible to persistently & gradually expand our feelings so that with our eyes & ears, we would be able to perceive much higher & much lower vibrations. A large group of these additional vibrations will still belong to the physical plane & will simply give us the opportunity to receive impressions from the etheric part of this plane. Such impressions will be received through the retina of the eye, of course, they will act more on its etheric than on its dense matter, but usually they act only one organ specialized for receiving them & not the entire surface of the etheric body. The astral body has no special sensory organs.
Each state of physical matter has its own corresponding state of astral matter, which is in constant connection with it & is separated from it. This also applies to the astral body of a person, the cloud of astral matter surrounds our physical body. In both of these parts & between both of them, the mutual transformation is constantly taking place.
Although each given organ of the physical body must always have a certain amount of astral matter as a duplicate, this organ has nothing corresponding to the physical nervous matter, visual, auditory nerves, etc. Thus, although the physical eye or ear always has its own duplicate of astral matter, this special part of astral matter is no more & no less capable of responding to vibrations that cause astral vision or astral hearing than any other part of the body.
We constantly talk about astral vision or astral hearing, by these expressions we only mean the ability to respond to such vibrations that bring information to our consciousness when we act in our astral body. What is transmitted to us through our eyes & ears when we are in a physical body. But our organs are not at all necessary to achieve this result. There is matter in every part of the astral body that is capable of responding & consequently, we see objects from behind, above or below equally well, without even turning our heads.
The power of the astral senses depends to a large extent on revival of our chakras, since each of these energy centers, developing, gives the entire astral body the power to respond to a number of new vibrations. But even these centers do not have a constant combination of astral matter associated with them. These are simply vortices in the matter of the body, the points through which a higher force from higher planes is transmitted to the astral body. The force that passes through them & causes them to exist does not seem to flow into them from anywhere. Since all the particles take turns passing through each of them, in this way it becomes possible for each of them, in its own way, to arouse responsiveness in all parts of the body to a certain range of vibrations, so that all astral senses are equally active in all parts of the body.
Clairvoyance as the ability to see what is hidden from ordinary physical vision can be developed in various ways.
If we could completely isolate ourselves from all but the mildest external influences during our development from the very beginning, our physical senses would gradually expand until they begin to respond to all physical vibrations, not only of the denser material, but also of the etheric, then, in a sequential order, sensitivity would appear to the denser part of the astral plane & then to the finer part of it until finally, in due time, the devachanic faculty would awaken in its turn.
But in real life such a development has hardly ever been possible & many people have occasional glimpses of astral consciousness without any awakening of etheric vision. It is this irregularity of development that is one of the main causes of our extraordinary tendency to err in the matter of clairvoyance, a tendency that can only be avoided by undergoing a long course of careful study.
Our etheric double is very closely connected with our nervous system & any effect on one is very quickly reflected on the other. The corresponding nervous excitement lies entirely in the sympathetic system & everything together is beyond human control & is rather something like a massive sensation vaguely belonging to the entire etheric body, or rather, a certain perception of feelings transmitted through a special organ.
Clairvoyant power is a definite & precise ability under the control of our will & it acts through the medium of a certain sense organ & all sympathetic nervous excitement now lies almost exclusively in the spinal cord system.
If we get the occasional glimpses of clairvoyance, even if we never have heard of the possibility of developing such an ability, is because of approaching the stage of our evolution when these forces will begin to manifest themselves naturally.
There are many transitional steps, one of them is the stage at which we, although not having the ability of clairvoyance in ordinary life, we discover this ability more or less completely under the influence of suggestion of hypnotism or magnetism. In these cases, the psychic nature is already sensitive but consciousness is not yet able to function in this direction among the diverse distractions of physical life.
In order to use the higher abilities, which are just barely beginning to manifest, consciousness must be liberated by temporarily eliminating external feelings in a hypnotic state, in a trance. But even in true trance there are innumerable degrees of clarity, starting from one who does not perceive anything at all to a person whose visual power can be completely controlled & directed & ending with more advanced consciousness.
The next step is when there is no need for a complete suppression of physical. There are no external influences, as in hypnotic trance, but the ability of supernormal vision, which is still absent in the waking state & begins to act when the body is in ordinary sleep.
It is necessary for our Ego in astral realm to break down the wall that our own waking thoughts have formed around us & look around ourselves. Observe & learn.
Consciousness would then be preserved upon the return of the Ego to its physical body & would allow it to imprint on the physical. The brain has a memory of what it has seen & learned.
So how the ability of Clairvoyance will first manifest itself?
For some people it can start right away, as if suddenly plunging into it & under the influence of some unusual stimulus, they get the ability to see some amazing vision for one time.
Some people start by sometimes becoming susceptible to colors & vibrations of the human aura. Some begin to notice that they see & hear something that others around them don’t.
There are those who see faces, landscapes or colored clouds rushing before their eyes in the dark before going to sleep.
Some people begin to recall everything they saw & heard on other planes during sleep with greater clarity.
Various phenomena of clairvoyance are so different in nature & degree.
With simple clairvoyance we get the opportunity to see astral & etheric beings who happen to be around us but cannot observe either distant places or scenes belonging to any other time than the present.
Clairvoyance in space is the ability to see scenes or events that are remote from us in space & either too far away for ordinary observation, or hidden by objects obscuring them.
Clairvoyance in time is the ability to to see objects or events that are distant from us in time, the ability to look into the past & into the future.
