Etheric Vision

We can define simple clairvoyance as the unfolding of etheric or astral vision, enabling us to see what may be around us on certain level & usually we can’t see something at a great distance or to read the past & future. The accidental fragmentary pictures of the past & future can slip in but there is a very significant difference between such random flashes & a certain ability to project vision into space or time. There are sensitive people all degrees of this kind of clairvoyance, starting from vague impressions that hardly deserve the name of vision at all up to full possession of the etheric vision. It consists simply in being sensitive to a larger range of physical vibrations than usual, many things are revealed to those who possess this vision, to which most people are completely blind.
We can see the acquisition of this power in the appearance of ordinary objects, animate & inanimate, then we will see what completely new conditions it has. It introduces us into our lives.
The most striking change in the appearance of inanimate objects caused by the acquisition of this ability is that many of them become almost transparent due to differences in the wavelength of certain vibrations to which we have now become susceptible.
We can try seeing through a brick wall, which is now no denser than a light fog. Try to see everything that happens in the next room almost as if there is no intervening wall. Describe the contents of a locked drawer or read a sealed letter, with a little practice. Finding any place in a closed book is quite easy for a person with astral vision & represents significant difficulties for those who use ethereal vision.
If the ability is perfectly developed, it will be completely under the control of the clairvoyant & we can use either this or our normal eyesight at will. We can move from one method to another as easily & naturally as we shift the focus of our vision when we lift our eyes from the book to follow the movements of an object in the distance. It is as if the focus of consciousness is on one or another aspect of the observed phenomenon & even if we very clearly see the aspect to which our attention is directed at that moment, we will always be vaguely aware of another aspect, just as when directing the focus of our vision on some object normally. Although we are holding it in our hands, we can still vaguely see the opposite wall of the room in the background.
Another curious change that comes with the possession of etheric vision is that the solid ground on which we walk becomes transparent to us to some extent, so that we can see to a considerable depth, similar to how we can see in clear water. This allows us to examine a creature burrowing underground, to distinguish a vein of coal or metal if they are not very far from the surface, etc. The limits of etheric vision when looking through solid matter seem to be similar to the limits that are imposed on us when we look through water or fog. We can't see beyond it because the medium through which we look is not completely transparent.
The appearance of animate objects also changes significantly once we developed our visual abilities to such an extent. The bodies of humans & animals are generally transparent to us so that we can observe the activity of various internal organs & sometimes even diagnose the diseases.
This enhanced vision also allows us to see more or less clearly various categories of beings, elementals & others whose bodies are unable to reflect rays within the ordinary visible spectrum. Among these beings are some of the lower spirits & nature spirits whose bodies consist of denser etheric matter. The vast realm of nature spirits is mainly about the astral realm but still a significant part of it belongs to the etheric region of the physical plane department.
We could see the etheric double of a person. After death, when the etheric double is completely separated from the dense body, it is seen very clearly & a person with etheric vision, passing through churchyard or cemetery, will often see him over fresh graves.
We could see completely new colors, in no way similar to the colors of the spectrum that we now know, unimaginable by any words at our disposal. We will not only see new objects, entirely in these new colors but we will also find that the colors of objects well known to us change if they contain any shades of these new colors mixed with old ones. Thus, two colored surfaces that would appear to be exactly the same to the ordinary eye will often appear in completely different shades to our sharper vision.
